Mount Fernie/Prov. Park/Cedar Valley

From the south side of the Island Lake Lodge road across the Lizard Range, including the Ski Hill and the Mount Fernie Prov. Park Trails

Dem Bones

How to find it

Ride into the Provincial Park opposite the Stanford Inn - there is a trail by the highway the whole way. Ride past Anderson Road on your right, through the entrance to the Park with the little signboard and take the first right. This loops round past a few campsite spots, and then turn next right where you see a little wooden hut. Signs to Dem Bones and Stove are right ahead.

The Trail

Verboten

Where is it

Head up Gorby Trail and turn right and head about 1,000m up the trail that takes you away from Cedar Bowl. Also accessible if you are riding out of FAR. A steep up in the road is just before the trailhead, and the access road then heads sharply left and down. The trail is just on top of a little mound in front of you before you turn left.

The trail

Tricky start with lots of rocks and roots and little drops. The trail opens out and becomes easy and is a great long ride down and back to the Gorby trail.

Great last run to the valley bottom after a day of riding the FAR bike park.

Purple Monkey Dishwasher

How to find it

Look for the trail that leads from the lower parking lot of the Provincial Park, it continues alongside the road from the highway.

The trail

A useful way to add a bit to your ride when leaving the Provincial Park. A few crazy stunts reaming in there - most in a poor state of repair. Look for Luke's Loopy Launch near the end for a challenge.

Old Goat

How to find it

Either downhill from the FAR Bike Park by following Megahurts down.

If coming up it, then ride up Gorby Trail - there's a sign on the right about 1km beyond the river crossing on Gorby.

The trail

Awesome dark forest riding with technical roots and switchbacks, but all doable. A great ride for a hot day.

New Goat

How to find it

Before the switchbacks begin on Old Goat look for this trail as it drops straight down the ridge, ending near the original creek crossing at the beginning/end of Old Goat.

The trail

New School branch off of Old Goat - faster down.
